The international Ubud Writers & Readers Festival in Bali Island is the major project of the Ubud-based Mudra Swari Saraswati Foundation. Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2009 theme is Suka-Duka: Compassion & Solidarity.

Suka-Duka is an ancient communal wisdom that for centuries has been one of the main pillars of Bali’s traditional institutions and communities, came to be called as banjar (neighborhood organizations).

Tanah Lot means “Land in the middle of the sea” in Balinese”.Tanah Lot Temple believed was built by Danghyang Nirartha in 15th century as holy place for him to worship the Balinese sea gods.This temple is one of seven sea temple in Bali, formed a chain along the south – western coast.


Tanah Lot Temple became famous travel destination in the world because its special location, that is, the temple looks like in the middle of the sea when the tide is high, when one is low the temple looks like in the beach and people can walk to the temple.

Lovina Beach

The name “Lovina” was coined by the last king of Buleleng. A convert to Christianity, he gave the name to a small tract of land that he purchased at Kaliasem, where he built the Tasik Madu (“Sea of Honey”) Hotel in the 1960s. The name Lovina signaifies the “love”, that is contained “in” the heart of all people.


Lovina beach is one of the most visited beach in north Bali island because with dark sand and stretches along 8 km quiet wave you can swimming or snorkeling or just sunbathing.

The advantage for you to travel to this place is you can visit more than one famous tourism object in a short distance. At least you can visit beauty panorama of Kintamani, Ulun Danu Batur temple in Lake Batur, Hot spring in Toya Bungkah and climb mount Batur.


The best time to visit Kintamani is around 10 am – 16 pm, you can see clearly Kintamani area and the view of mount Batur around the lake Batur. Also you can enjoy the lunch with lake view panoramic.
